A winner is just a loser who tried one more time.”
– George M. More.
One of the rules of success is preparation. The more you go through the right preparation, the more you expand your opportunities to succeed.
Abraham Lincoln said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” The right preparation enhances efficiency and productivity.
The Chinese Bamboo Tree takes five years to spring out from the ground and grows 90ft tall within six weeks! The farmer would have watered the tree for the five years without any physical evidence of growing. Onlookers would naturally mock the owner of the Bamboo tree for putting a lot of effort in a failed venture. But here’s the good news, the tree recovers all in six weeks! The owner of the tree smiles home and provides for generation to come.
The question to ask is: Did the 90ft growth happen in five years or in six weeks? The obvious answer is five years. It took five years to prepare the tree for the gigantic 90ft growth! This is the miracle of the Bamboo Tree.
Some of us are passing through our Bamboo tree experience at this time. Some of us are tilling the ground and planting the right seeds. Some of us are watering the seeds we planted. We are in different farming seasons. We are in different stages of life. We are expected to do our best at all times.
You can’t throw in the proverbial towel because of ups and downs of life. We must prepare strongly in other to launch out strongly … like the Bamboo tree.
Remember the popular old saying, Winners don’t quit. This is my motivation. I don’t quit! When I go through the right thought process to arrive at the right path to follow, I take off by taking the right actions. The right actions get the right results.
The journey of life is filled with challenges. You must step up your game – if you want to overcome these challenges. Once you are clear with your vision and mission, the next thing is to invest necessary efforts to actualize your dreams.
You may not get it right at the first instance. Only God gets it right the first time and all the time. The popular maxim, ‘‘Winners don’t quit’’ comes handy at a time like this. You can’t quit. You must fight on if you want to win the battles of life. You can lose today and come back to win tomorrow … only if you continue to do your best.
Losers are the ones who fail to try the second time. When you try and fail, get up and try again.
The owner of the Bamboo tree kept the dream alive by watering the tree daily. He didn’t give up even when people gave up on him and on the tree. This is the mindset of Champions. You must keep believing in yourself and in your dreams.
What is your story? Do you want to surrender? Never give up. You have the pen and paper. You are the scriptwriter. Write a beautiful story of yourself. You are the director and lead actor of your life’s movie. Make sure you play the role well.
Believe that your story will end well. Be self-responsible. It’s your call. No one will do this for you. Rise up now and get things done.
Plan.
Dream Big.
Think Smart.
Work Hard.
Network.
Pray and believe in God.
You can’t get it wrong when you follow principles that lead to success.
Learn from the farmer of the Bamboo tree. Patience and Preparation are great virtues.
Move from Good to Better, then to Best.
